Welcome to Skimmer Nation, Home to one of the newest and best skimmer information sites on the internet. I'm Jeffrey Ayres,
skimboarding since 1996. For the past 10 years of my life, I have been learning new ways to skimboard, do certain tricks,
as well as understand what it means to be a skimboarder from the east coast.
To give you a brief history of skimboarding, we must go way back to the beginning of its time. The early
remnants of skimboarding comes from a time back in the early 1920's. Many people were skeptical of the sport of skimboarding
and still are skeptical. No one understood how you could ride on such little amounts of water with a board that weighed such
a large amount. The early skimboarders from Laguna Beach out in California were the first to try this sport. The lifeguards
out in California used wooden planks to create the first skimboards ever ridden.
Frankly, If you want to build a skimboard, you have come to the right place. This site is filled with skimboarding
information for you on how to pick the right wood, paint, fiberglass, and much more so that you can build your board to its
highest potential. Also there is information that you can use to help you maximize your speed and control of your newly made
board in order to get the best results out of your creation.
Now-a-days, You see skimboards of all shapes and sizes. Specifically on the Jersey Shore, you see numerous
kids trying to skimboard and having trouble doing so. It is tough to watch youngster struggle with their skimboarding problems
(telling them a few secrets of the "how to" of skimboarding makes riding fun and easier for young kids to learn). I hope this
informational website is a great way for anyone who wants to learn about the sport and art of skimboarding. Please feel free
to click the links on the left side of the page for more information regarding this small sport of skimboarding. Also, feel
free to contact me with any questions you have on skimboarding and the 'how to' of the sport. Thanks.
