Correct Board Sizing

This page describes how to make your own board using certain tools found at your local home depot and what not.

This is an extremely long process and can take many hours to complete, even days. If you are up to the challenge, then read on in order to create your own skimboard (Information on how to create your own longboard on the way).

First things first, you need the right tools and supplies. Many people always tell me that they don't know what they would need in order to create the right skimboard. Here are the correct tools that you will need in order to get started.

WOOD

You are obviously going to need a good piece of plywood that will support your weight and make a good board for you. Typically the correct board size is half inch plywood. This is the prime size wood in order to make a great skimboard, but 3/8 of an inch works as well. Just take your pick (Definitely go with the 1/2 inch plywood). Any lumber yard is bound to cut the piece you like so that you can make your skimboard, just so you don't have to buy enough wood to make 4 or 5 boards (unless you have friends that could use the wood)
